Horticulture

The Center for Creative eXchange is for practical purposes an artist and writer residency in the making which operates through a method of thinking holistically and implementing a sustainable system through its functions and programming.

In the nature of thinking holistically the Center has a horticulture program/community garden which takes, quite literally, from the sun and soil of Detroit to nourish the visitors and guests. Many of the plants grown on-site will also be used in paper-making workshops with local children and community. These materials can then be used to make books by the collaborating visiting artists and writers. Each of these books will be archived in our library for future guests to be influenced by.
